Hi, I’m from Perth, Western Australia. I’m in my 30’s and have been diagnosed with major clinical depression since my I was 17. About 3 years ago I worked with a chick who was a Schapelle supporter and had been to Bali 3 times to visit her and take care packages ect. She told me she no longer believed Schapelle was innocent after all that was coming out of the media. She said Schapelle had a book and that I should read it. Another worker lent me her copy of the book then she left a week later – I still have the book. I read half way through the book and decided I’ve had enough trauma and my own personal hell to live through – why do I want to read about someone else’s? The book still sits in a magazine file somewhere untouched.
I’ve seen the entire mass media phenomenon surrounding this case but have still found it highly unlikely that Schapelle is guilty. The level of attention and fame Schapelle has received in Australia especially, as a result of her imprisonment alarms me. People don’t seem to handle fame at the best of times.
I read Mercedes article in whatever magazine a couple of weeks ago and it was really the last straw for me. I simply cannot take it anymore, and it won’t go away. I come from a mental health perspective, and Schaplle (and her family) has been through enough. What she and her family have experienced is irreversible and will take years to come to terms with and rebuild from. She needs to be let out of jail.
Regards,
Black Dog (anjing_hitam)
